This project implemented a demand planning solution for products with a strong seasonal demand pattern. The standard steps of a demand planning process were applied: collecting historical data from the ERP system, removing outliers, generating a statistical forecast, and incorporating inputs from departments such as Sales and Marketing to create the Final Demand Plan.
Two elements were specific to this project. First, individual customers were aggregated into customer groups to avoid an excessive number of planning combinations. Second, planners could use the more stable seasonal demand pattern at the product‑group level as the starting point for the product‑level forecast, providing an alternative to the statistical forecast generated directly at product level.
The Final Demand Plan, available in monthly buckets within Demand Planning, was then disaggregated into weekly buckets when transferred to Supply Planning.
